Miles driven (today): 245
Miles driven (all-time): 1214

On this lovely Friday, we drove from Chicago to Indianapolis. On the way, we drove through 170 of just cornfields! We then went to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and (quickly) filmed at Mac News Weekly. We also took a look at the museum and went around the track!

Tomorrow (today), the plan is to go to Cleveland by the way of Columbus.

Roadtrip 2009 – Day 5

Miles driven (today): 245
Miles driven (all-time): 1024

Today, we left Ann Arbor en-route to Chicago. On the way, we stopped at a really nice state park — Warren Dunes State Park. We arrived in Chicago around 12:30 PM (gotta love time-zone switching :-) ). In Chicago, we walked around the city and took in the sites because it was a super nice day.

Tomorrow, we are going to Indianapolis.

Roadtrip 2009 – Day 4

Miles driven (today): 303
Miles driven (all-time): 779

Today, we had the longest drive of the trip thus far. We drove from Toronto to Ann Arbor, MI… just outside of Detroit. We looked around the University of Michigan campus and found the places where my dad used to live. We then had a nice dinner at the Red Hawk Bar & Grill.

Tomorrow, the plan is to leave early and head toward Chicago. I’m very excited! Although I’ve been there when I was very young and connected through O’Hare numerous times, I’ve never explored the city. Should be an adventure!

P.S. – I finished Frankenstein today!

Roadtrip 2009 – Day 3

Miles driven (today): 80
Miles driven (all-time): 476

Today, we had a short drive from Niagara Falls, Canada up to Toronto. We thought it would be a scenic route, but because of it’s vicinity to the lake, most of it was very industrial.

We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Toronto. It was actually attached to Rogers Stadium which was good because we went to the Blue Jays/ Yankees game. Yankees won! Other than that, I highly recommend the Rennissance brand, especially if you are a Marriot Rewards Member… we got free internet, a $50 credit for food, and free parking!

Tomorrow (or today… a little late on this posting), we are going to Ann Arbor, MI.

Roadtrip 2009 – Day 2

Miles driven (today): 166
Miles driven (all-time): 396

Day 2 of the Roadtrip was, and will be, the tackiest of them all. After a terrible night of sleep for all of us, we woke up early to drive to Niagara Falls. There, we walked around and rode the famed Maid of the Mist. We wanted to stay on the U.S. side for lunch before going to our hotel across the falls in Canada. There weren’t too many options at all, so we ended up going to the Hard Rock Café. We’ll have a nice dinner somewhere here.

Tomorrow, we are headed to Toronto. It is a very short drive.

Oh, and I didn’t finish Frankenstien. I got tied up in re-launching this site while I was in the car.

Some photos that @sammurphy and I took of Niagara Falls are after the break. Enjoy! Read more…?

The CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, has resigned himself from the board of Apple, Inc. In a press release put out by Apple, Steve Jobs sites that “potential conflicts” caused Mr. Schmidt to resign as Google moves into the consumer computer market in addition to the smartphone arena. This month would have been Mr. Schmidt’s third year anniversary on the board.

This announcement comes a few days after a widely publicized fight to get a Google Voice application on the iPhone App Store. There is no evidence to suggest that Schmidt’s resignation was a response to this.

Mac News Weekly will have more on the Schmidt resignation this weekend.
